About this training

Progressive campaigns are very good at mobilising existing supporters, but often struggle to build coalitions with people who have different values.

This can limit their effectiveness and, unintentionally, put off the very people they might need to bring on board. Our new training course helps progressive campaigners and communicators understand why this happens, and what they can do about it. Drawing on More in Common’s Seven Segments framework, participants learn how to read public opinion more accurately, identify the audiences they most need to reach and develop messages and strategies that resonate beyond their existing base.

What the training covers

What participants leave with
  • A clear understanding of where progressive values align or diverge with the wider public, and what this means for how campaigns are perceived by different groups
  • Practical skills on how to use More in Common’s Seven Segments and public opinion insights to identify the audiences they need to reach
  • Tools for framing messages that resonate with different values and starting points beyond the existing supporter base
  • Approaches for identifying messengers and unexpected allies and building coalitions across different segments
  • Insight from peers navigating similar challenges
How the session works

The training course gives participants access to More in Common’s latest public opinion insights and provides them with practical tools they can use immediately for their work. Participants will have space to discuss their own campaign challenges and learn from peers navigating similar issues.
