Maximising support for grid infrastructure through effective community benefit schemes

More in Common was commissioned by Local Storytelling Exchange to run four focus groups across communities most affected by East Coast pylon grid infrastructure.

More in Common was commissioned by Local Storytelling Exchange to run four focus groups across communities most affected by East Coast pylon grid infrastructure — in Aberdeenshire, Scunthorpe, Boston, and Waveney Valley. We explored local attitudes toward the proposals and how community benefit schemes could reduce opposition, including what residents want funding spent on and how decisions should be made.

We produced a report advising infrastructure developers and policymakers on designing consultation processes and community benefits to mitigate local opposition. Findings were presented to Britain’s electricity transmission companies, a roundtable of Labour MPs with affected constituencies, and a sector professionals’ webinar.
