"After months of stability, our latest poll shows a modest bump for the Conservatives and the lowest Labour lead since May. However the stark fact is that, following a Party Conference season that fired the starting gun on the next General Election, the Conservatives remain 12 points behind. The Government’s sole hope for re-election is that rising wages and falling inflation lead to people feeling better off, but with 73% of the public still saying the cost of living is the top issue facing the country, that shift in the public mood seems a distant prospect."
